I have heard that from more people. Enough to keep me from considering a Ford for her new car.

Here is a thread with some more great pics of the new color my Dad sent me from the Detroit Auto Show.

OK - option c it is. I just put an order in under the S plan for the 2006 RX8 Shinka MT in Copper Red with the Apperance Package, Rotary Accents and Rear Wing Spoiler. No pricing available as yet.

Dealer sales manager told me his NE Mazda rep has told him they may allocate only 1500 RX8's to the North American market for 2006 model year and only some of those will be Shinka's. I see from rereading the thread on this site that he is confused - it is the Shinka that will be limited to 1500 vehicles, not total RX8 production.

I should hear in a week or two if they can get the car allocated to them for me. Delivery is hoped for in 60 - 90 days but he would not guarantee delivery timeframe as they have nothing official.

Many thanks to the 2006 model year thread on this site - cuz of that I had great info going in.

I'll post pics when / if delivered.

Yeah. My 8-10 weeks originally planned is about up and I am still having problems finding out what is going on with my car. My dealer says he hasn't received updated information on any Mazdas (STILL). A customer service person at Mazda told me my car shipped out December 27. Today when I called for updated information on when to expect it (if still on my Jan. 27 to Feb. 17 range) he said they "lost" the information on my car. He said he can find it in the computer but when he checks on the status part to see where it is he gets a blank page that is pulling up no data. He said to call back tomorrow because he thinks he is having a computer problem. I am getting more than a little irritated by the confusion with this! I wish somebody had a clue, or at least a consistent story with what is going on.

Did you order a 2006 or 2005? Just curious as I haven't heard of any 2006 being available anytime soon.

2006 Winning Blue 6-speed Manual, Grand Touring, Appearance Package, Rotary Accent Package, Navigation, Alarm upgrade, 6-disc CD, Spoiler, spare tire kit.

I ordered it the end of November. Somewhere between two and three weeks ago I sent an email to MNAO to ask if they knew when the 06s would be coming out yet since there had been all those delays in getting them built, they wrote back and told me the end of January they would be arriving on lots. I was told on the phone by their customer service the next week that they were planned to be available on the West Coast the last week of January. My car was really close to the front in the build order, I was told, at the time I got mine ordered. They changed the specs on one that was pre-allotted to my dealer so it retained it's same spot. Mine is supposed to be part of the first shipment here, according to them.

When checking before since I got my order in I had been given answers ranging from really soon, January, mid February, after spring break, early May, and by summer. These were all answers I received in mid to late December from different people. I did get the answer yesterday on the phone that cars were still expected to be out on the West Coast the last week of January, so we'll see.

I'm just hoping my car is here by the end of February since the first week of March I have somewhere to go several hours a way and it would be nice if I could drive myself there instead of having to get somebody to take me since I don't currently have a car.

I received this letter the last week of December (on the 27th, the day my car supposedly shipped) and have received the same information from three other people four different times since this letter. Except now they didn't tell me it is an estimate, just that the cars will be available at the end of January for my location. I was told it was to coincide with our autoshow when their arrival was planned. I still can't verify with 100% certainty that their schedule is correct, though.

Hi Tiffany!

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.

In regards to your inquiry, the 2006 Mazda RX-8 is estimated to be
available in January. However, please keep in mind this is only an
estimated time. The actual vehicle availability may vary from region to
region.

We hope to have it available as soon as possible.

I hope this information will be helpful. Please let me know if you have

Get a used one you will save 10-12k. Depreciation is more than a tad high on the 8.

This is what happens when you don't read through the to the end.

Congrats and enjoy!

I might well be - have to say I'm pretty psyched. It was going to take something special to replace my original ride.

Thanks.
