Repair cost question

My clutch is starting to slip in higher gears, so I know a clutch is in my future. For those who have had this repair done, what kind of price range would you estimate I'll be looking at (from independent shop to dealership).
Thanks!

Average price in labor is around $400-500. I think Dealership charges $750.

*sigh* ppl these days are really ...

ok, depends on available tools + skills of the person working on your car. it takes between 3 hours to 7 hours. Labor charge varies, all u need to do is CALL.

not gonna bother with the clutch set, go use Google

My local mazda dealer in Houston tx charges 600 to drop tranny and pop it in not including (parts) buying your own clutch from them or online. My local independent mechanic did mine for 350 installed (my own parts) which was the cheapest i found and it took 1 day. I paid about 260 for my stage 1 exedy clutch kit online. These prices will differ between locations etc obviously...

Thanks to those of you who were actually helpful in giving me an idea about cost.
To everyone else...Geeeesh...it's just a question. Good Lord, it was after hours, I just noticed my clutch problem, I DID Google, thank you, but couldn't find anything specific about RX8 clutch plus labor. I just wanted to ask you guys because I like this site and have read some great info on here.
I guess I'll just keep quiet and read only from now on.

I addition to what others have said - the good, the bad, the ugly lol - remember that any competent mechanic should be able to install the clutch. Just bring the parts.

Only take it to your local Mazda if you want to continue developing a good "relationship" for future major warranty claims.

And to indulge you lazy self, here's what a 0.000000000001 sec google search brought http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&q=rx8+clutch+&oq=rx8+clutch+&aq=f&aqi=s1g4&aql=&gs_sm=s&gs_upl=16804l18633l0l26808l11l7l0l0l0l0l4209l4209l9-1l1l0&mvs=0

Geez, why such a pissy attitude? I thought this was a site of Rx8 friends willing to help out. I would never dream of raking someone over the coals for asking a question. Why not say, " Don't know why you had trouble finding that info, but here's a link that might answer your question".
Is that so difficult?
Why is it more pleasurable to have a nasty attitude instead of a more humane, helpful attitude?

I agree, seems someone should put a lock on the whole site and make it "read only". There is tons of great information here, you just have to take the time to read it. Like I told another guy, if you are thinned skinned don't post, this is what you have to look forward to.

If it was to be locked down for read only then it should just be shut down in general. What's a forum without users interacting, asking questions, and etc? I agree 97% of the information someone probably needs is already hanging around but it shouldn't kill you to help a noob every blue moon. It is the internet, not really that serious.

I think what killed the deal here is that the OP said he couldn't find a price quote for a clutch when doing a google search.

That's just wrong!!!!!!!!

I could find lots of clutch prices, what I was looking for was a dealer quote for parts and labor.
