So I went on vactaion for a couple of weeks. My 8 sat garaged for almost 2 solid weeks. Got back... everything worked fine. Took it for a wash. To the grocery store. All fine. Then pulled into the garage at home about the 2nd day after I got back and the remote key fob would not lock the doors (or pop the trunk, or sound the horn alarm... nothing). I checked all doors and trunk were closed... still wouldn't work. Finally worked after just pressing it constantly numerous times, so I thought "OK... only temporary glitch". But next day, remote key fob doesn't work at all. Tried spare... it doesn't work either.

Everything else seems to be functioning perfectly. Just remote key fob doesn't work at all now. Anybody know where the sensor is that picks up the signal?

 

Not that a "me too" post will help ya much, lol, but...

For the first few days after picking up my 8, mine did a similar thing: both remotes would work fine for awhile, then suddenly stop working for an hour or two, work fine for the next few hours, etc.

After about a week, they just suddenly started working consistently. It's been fine ever since.

EDIT: It's interesting to note that BOTH our cars sat still for quite awhile before the remotes went nuts... hmmm... a clue?

 

ok..so what have we learned here....Never let your 8 sit for more than a couple days..

So no one knows what senses the remote key fob signal on the 8? Or anything else about it?

Looks like I'll have to take it to the dealer... man, I hate dealer service departments!
