Remote Control Power Windows Anyone?

In reference to all of our remotes, which open doors and trunks, has anyone performed modifications to the remote system to allow the ability to roll the windows down before getting inside the car?

This is an ability that several cars can perform by “holding down” the un-lock button on the remote.

Naturally, the modification is to start cooling the interior of the car before sitting on the burning hot leather seats. Although I am already using a window visor, it would be neat to roll down the windows as we are approaching the car…

The question is not “if”, but how it can be done and whether it is economical.

Thanks

I believe it can be done, and depending on the available equipment it coudl be inexpensive (relatively). The window feature you speak of and otheres such as "auto-locking @ 5mph" and regional adjustments, in my experience have been controlled via a central unit, or computer in the car. much like the ECU, but the "brain" of the operations. I know at least the VW guys have some sort of computer program that allows them to hook up to the car, and change said information to turn on/off this feature or that feature by a numerical calculation. such as the GT package convience code is 12470, and then you add or subtract from that to get certain options. I would assume all companies are similar.

That's one feature I'd love to see in the 8 for sure. My VW Golf has the Insert Key to roll down window feature, and my Brother's Cooper S has the Hold Button to Roll down windows feature. Both are great ideas for hot days.

Let the R&D begin..

Thanks Guys...

Unless someone comes up with the exact procedure that can be done from home, I am going to start doing the investigation... If it is just a slight adjustment to the remote program as suggested (AKS4), then its a matter of finding the service to do the job...

I will post my findings.

I'm waiting for the parts to arrive, they shoud be here this week.
I'm going to assign the window control to the panic button on my remote.
I'll post pictures in the next week or so.

I had that done on my last '00 Jetta (it also controlled the sunroof, and multiple window vent settings - for heat) and it was a cinch! Used existing factory remote, too!

I did have to add a small control module on the driver door tho, all done in under about an hour for about $60. It helps to mention tho, that the car's remote already allowed for interfacing w/ the window functions as UberJumber points out.

I'd also been interested in remote startup but fear electronic issues with my life (Dubs have TERRIBLE electronic problems as is!)

Any update on this? Has anyone figured out a simple way to make our stock key remotes make the windows roll down and have the sun roof open? This would be a really cool feature, how can we get it done?

even though I don't have a moonroof, I'd think a remote to open the moonroof would be pretty cool.
