No poetic letters, but some simple agreements.

The 8 starts every work day off in a way nothing else (at least nothing else I could afford) can do. Ground pounding torque is overrated, and my first few miles waiting for that needle to stand at attention are not really right for flying around anyway. Test drive of other cars yielded nothing close to the securely wrapped, corner eating feel of the RX-8. The daily commute to work is all highway, and includes several open straights, and open corners that provide the opportunity for a morning "damn this car is tight" moment. And did I mention the all highway commute includes 6 different highways & "routes"? RT 114 --> I 195 --> ! 95 --> RT 10 --> RT 6 --> I 295 . . . lots of on/off ramps to chew up . . .

I find it histerical that I make a "pro rx8" type thread that doesn't even make it past 2 pages, while some guy makes a "tiberon owner thinking about an 8" thread that makes it past 12.

I thought this thread was a great idea. Reading through it makes me want to leave work and go drive my car.

I realize this has been said before but,

Does anyone else love the sound of shifting as heard from outside the cabin?

Things are different when you're driving it. The road is longer, smoother. The joy is back in driving. You're sitting in a seat that you swear was custom made to fit you, and the whole car feels RIGHT.
There are faster. There are more luxurious. But never have I had a car that captured my soul from the second I saw it for the first time, flying down the road.
Its about being different. Its about the kid in the Neon next to me in traffic "Hey, your car sounds like a motorcycle!", its about the guy at the gas station the other day "Honey I think you're burning some oil" and its about three people coming with me for one great ride.

It is the essence of zoom zoom... I have rediscovered 'the emotion of motion'.

The day I bought my 8 I actualy went to buy an STI. They even had the exact STI in stock that I wanted. BUT I got a crack head car salesman. He kept freaking us out. We decided to leave. As we we were pulling out of the dealership, Amy said, "Let's look at the 8. You have been talking about them for a year." I pulled into the Mazda dealership next to the Subi dealership. It was love at first drive. I realy wanted the 8 but thought the STI would be more "practical". I had a chance to buy an STI earlier this year (and keep my 8). I drove the STI daily for almost a month. I ended up not getting it because I just love my 8 too much and did not see the point in buying the STI. I just love my 8. I cannot imagine having another car.

On a personal note, after cleaning the MAFS, and starting a premix schedule, It feels like there is another 10hp under the hood.

Tommorow I'm replacing the filthy air filter. Perhaps it will feel even more powerful after that.

Anyone else feeling this sort of sensation?
...or is it just my imagination? Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

We just love our cars. People may call us a "fanboy" but I don't care. I could have about any car I want (withing reason of course). But I have not found one I would be willing to give my 8 up for at a much higher price.

I think there is a big difference between loving our cars (most people here) and being a fanboy.

I went to a tiburon forum last week for the hell of it, and there was some guy there bragging about how he could pwn 350Z's with his stock tiburon.

That is one serious fanboy.

If any of you are lucky enough to own the RX-8 book, and actually have read it, I believe you'll see where all our affection for the 8 comes from. This car was conceived, designed, and engineered by a small group of Mazda zealots whose love of rotary powered cars exceeded all common sense, all business sense, and they went way out on a limb to keep the project alive through rough times.

After many prototypes, concepts, mockups, plus discouraging re-designes, the pure unadulterated soul of RENESIS rotary power was lovingly honed and perfected through constant attention to detail, desire for driving perfection, and love of rotary power.

Driven to exceed the chassis performance of the renouned RX-7, plus other sports car benchmarks, the chassis of the RX-8 was difficult to engineer, but was accomplished to hold the heart and soul engine of the new rotary car. The result I think completely confirms the excellent job done, producing a car that handles and connects to the driver effortlessly in a way few other cars can approach, no less match.

We are all experiencing the essense of their addiction and joy of creation in the design of the 8 every day, every time we sit behind the wheel. Very few cars nowadays have been so lovingly conceived as ours have.

If you can beg, borrow, or buy the book, I highly recommend doing so. You'll gain a huge amount of understanding and appreciation for Mazda rotary DNA and our RX-8.

I thought men come first and women come second, or sometimes not at all :P no seriously I understand this feeling its called bliss, I feel it when shifting my car to the sound of the engine, to the high revs I can't see me driving anything else

Interesting, so that's where the addiction comes from.

I knew there was something special about this car.

Let's see some more RX8 "love" letters!

I'm interested to see what kind of passion all of you other RX8 owners hold for your little peace of heaven..
