Question Redlining an A/T - How to?

How many A/T owners regularly redline to blowout some carbon? What is the best way to do it? Just wondering if there is a particular gear to try to hit the redline in or if it really matters? Is there a risk to the transmission doing this?

I have question about this too:

Is it based on engine temp or is it just RPM's?
And if it is RPM's how long should you redline it?
10 seconds.... 2 seconds... just shift at redline for 2 or 3 gears?

Or will a long drive of say about an hour at highway speeds - no redline - do the trick?

I usually redline every day obviously using the M-mode, going from 3rd to 4th on the highway. Sometimes more often since I would need to maneuver away from the horrible drivers in Miami. For long drives, it's recommended to stray away from keeping constant RPMs, so I usually drive in M-mode to play around with the gears every now and then.

This is coming from a 6-port, 6-speed auto... but if you do have a 4-port which I've driven before, I would do it from 2nd to 3rd.

Plus, our transmissions are built pretty well for some abuse.

I have the 4 port 4spd and I redline at least once a day. I don't have any highway driving going to work so I usually wind up 1st to redline a couple times from a stop light and then let off once in second. Redlining 2nd gear in the 4spd and you're going about 80mph. Definitely in M mode too, I always drive it that way.

I would wait until the engine has warmed up to do any kind of redlining.

As far as for how long, well usually till 6k a day and you should be fine. I like to go all the way to 7.5k until it beeps and change gears from there.
