The rear window "Big Change"

The rear window changed from a bubble to straight down. I would think it gives more trunk space??

I think that's just lighting tricking the camera. The pic of the red car from the unveiling is poorly backlit, and you can't really determine the profile edge on the rear glass

After looking at other pictures I think you are right. I like the bubble back look.

Sorry buddy

If you look closely, down the bottom of the reaar window, there is a black line, this goes all the way round which means that the rear windshield has not changed, go on the new mazdausa RX-8 page if you wanna double check.
