My light comes on way to early. If I fill up the moment it comes on, I cant even get 13 gallons in. I have to wait till my needle gets to the middle of the E, so you can actually see part of the E above the needle. Even then Ive only broke 14 gallons once. I thought the tank could hold 15.9? Does it have something to do with the whole saddle tank?

i know for a fact that just below half the tank the pump will suck all the gas over to the drivers side and the passenger side will be bone dry by 1/4 tank.

I've had cars in which the gas guage seemed unreliable, and my dad has actually run a car out once when the guage literally got stuck (it was towed home still reading a quarter of a tank). While I wouldn't ignore the fuel light, I wouldn't rely on it, either - every time I fill up, I reset one of the trip odometers and keep an eye on it. With normal driving, I know I can get 270 miles on a tank, and usually make a point to refill at my first opportunity once I pass 250. Maybe it's not necessary, but I'd rather take too many precautions than have to thumb a ride to the nearest filling station :D

Mine almost always has three gallons left when the low fuel light comes on, but she has fooled me a couple times (running out as I roll into the gas station, for example). There is no warning, she just stops cold, but starts promptly as soon as there's fuel in the tank.

This car is unforgiving about low fuel/out of fuel. Don't push it.

Once the low fuel light comes on I immediately reset the primary trip odometer and keep it under 15 miles before filling. Have followed that religiously for the last year and never an
issue. I've only filled it past 14 gallons once, while 13.5 gallons or so is typical.

Exactly what I do. When I let the gas light go on, I basically give myself 20 miles.
