Cool Radiator Replacement

Hey All -

I'm getting my engine core replaced right now and was informed by my dealership that my radiator is worn and should be replaced. My car is only a 2005. **Is this normal wear for the radiator? If it's not one thing, it's another. Luckily though they extended the warranty on the rotors and it's covered...thank God, that sh*ts expensive.

how is a Radiator considered "worn"
It either works or it doesn't (and leaks)

Yeah, I thought that was strange too. Thanks so much

I'm going to call them on that. Do you work on rx8's?

I work on my RX-8, does that count?
Maybe the service advisor just got confused, I'd definitely call back and get some clarification on what a 'worn radiator' is.

Either that or they're just trying to make some extra money off you.

I will definitely call them. I saw Jedi54's Garage and thought you had an auto shop or something. I'm in Capo Beach and take my car to the Mazda dealership in Huntington Beach. Was thinking you would be way closer for me to go to, Newport Coast is on my way to work. Oh well

donnan: check out Tustin Mazda, they're owned by the same guy that runs HB Mazda but I've found Tustin's service department to be a bit more competent

It is possible to have so many bent fins on your radiator that its effieciency is compromised since air can no longer flow through it enough to dissipate heat.

Hmmm, interesting. Wonder how that could happen. They said there were no signs of "abuse", but don't even know what that means. I'm supposed to pick my baby up tomorrow, so I'll find out more then. Thanks

Or the core could be plugged.
