R3 seats

Question for R3 owners or those who have driven the R3 - my experience with Recaro seats has been that they are great, but designed for the smaller frame driver - I have not been able to see/sit in an R3 yet, but I am concerned that being a bigger guy (6-3, 275) that the seats might sway me from looking at an R3 in the future...thoughts?

I'm 6'6" and weigh 220. I fit fine. But anybody heavier than me muight have issues. I was talking to the salesman when I was looking at the R3. He said he some girl came in and tried to sit in it,, well she was a bit to big.
It's the side bolsters that hold you in place. They fit me like a glove. Very comfotable to be held in place by a seat.

I wish those seats were an option - I'd hate to take the R3 off my list because the seats wouldn't work for me...or if the R3 body kit were available as an option for the grand touring...

Isn't the only real thing different with the R3 from the Sports is the seats and rims...maybe the wing-a-ling?

consider an R3. if you want it - buy it and sell the seats here for the cost of replacing them with standard model seats hell i dont know how they do business, but there might even be a vendor here(Mazmart) who would hook you up with seats of your choice in return for the R3's and possible other terms.

the ppl here are going crazy for R3 parts, seats, rear clips, etc

that is easily solved.

Buy the R3, and then switch seats with me :D

I'm just about the same height and weight. I completely agree. How the hell can you fit in those R3 seats and be over 220lbs? I mean, they're comfortable and they hold you great, but they're snug on me.

I'm 6'1" 240, and had recaros in an old VW that I owned. I found with that car it took about 3 months to get really used to sitting in the seats, then about three years to get over missing them. Yeah, they're really snug in the side bolsters, but that's the point. Eventually, I got used to it in that car, and I think that I would in the R3. Some people, the experience might always be too tight, but it is important to think about how it would be months down the road. Just my 2 cents and probably not worth that amount.

I don't know, Nick...risky business is offering pizza AND beer...

I guess I just need to try and find one in the Chicagoland area and try them out for myself - last time I did a search I couldn't find one in a 150 mile radius...

I'm glad to see someone post this question. I was about to do it. I'm 6'3" and 210 lbs., and I've been worried I won't fit in the seats. I am hoping to order an R3 in a few months. I was hoping there would be one at the NAIAS (Detroit auto show) that I could sit in, but there wasn't. It sounds like I'll be OK in the seats. I sure hope so, because they're wicked awesome. I plan to take the car to occasional track days, so I want aggressive seats, as long as they're not horribly painful to sit in.

I tried the R3 seats at the Philadelphia Auto show, and I liked it. It grabs you with stiff bolsters right at the bottom of the rib cage. I found it to be a snug but comfortable fit that I could get very used to. In contrast the Recaros in the CTS V were swimmingly huge and not tight at all.

Has more to do with the persons girth/width. With those dimensions you are still pretty thin, and would likely fit fine. Now 6'3 275 is a diff story, thats a big fella that i highly doubt would even fit, let alone be comfy.

OP, dont let the seats sway you that much, there are hundreds of fellas here who would trade + cash with ya. GL
