Questions on purchasing a very low mileage RX-8

Im interested in purchasing a cheaper Mazda RX8 , i found this extremely low mileage 2004 grey with only 2,586 miles for $17,196!!! i carfaxed it and its clean and one owner! Im willing to purchase now but i have a few questions. The description is vague and not very descriptive of the car, can you guys tell by the pictures if it has bose sound system, xenon, and DSC (very important). And do you guys think it will still be reliable even though its been sitting around not being driven (has been maintained). Thanks for you help!!

2004. Automatic. Probably shouldn't pay over $14k for it. You're asking for trouble. "Well maintained" is a double-edged sword with this car. If it wasn't driven like a hot bitch for those 2500 miles, the engine is probably gonna give you a lot of trouble. Don't let the low mileage fool you. Check our Classifieds section and buy a newer model year for even less money.

It looks like a GT model but as the others said it is a 4 port AT so it's the lower power car. I wouldn't purchase it because in '06 you can get the AT with the higher power 6 port motor. If you do purchase it make sure it has had the recall performed and the latest PCM reflash so you are getting proper lubrication in the engine.

doesn't matter what the miles are

+1

but i personally think that that car is worth about 5 or 6 grand. being a 130whp coupe with a 4 speed transmission. ehhh, not my cup of tea. definitely not worth 17 grand. you could buy an 06 or 07 with less than 20k miles for that much. 06+ have cooler keys too. and the 06+ automatics have the higher horsepower engine and a 6 speed transmission.

kurt, you'll find the best deals in the rx8clubs for sale section. some pretty crazy deals go on there.

^Damnit! Cooler keys, too? You guys got it all. I knew I shouldn't have bought my '04.

It has already been said. The insanely low mileage is very attractive, but you can do MUCH better.

The keys are sooooo cool on the 06's + that we aren't even allowed to talk about them - we keep them hidden in our pockets.

LOL.

^Haha. I knew it! That's why the dealer was so sly about selling me the '04. You guys suck. I'm going to buy a switch blade key from ebay and use a sharpy to change the manufactoring date on my VIN stickers. We'll see who's cooler then.

Its probably an old age unit from sitting on the lot. Probably because its an 04 AT.

Im not an AT hater by any means, but I would much rather own a 20-30K mile 05+ MT for the same price OR CHEAPER.

Keep searching.

Its especially lame with a car that lacks torque.

Seriously, don't get it. Even if the price was lower the fact that the car was BABIED for 4 years AND it's an automatic is not good.

Are you trading in a car? You could probably offer 13 or 14 with no trade and work from there if you really like the car.

Yes great descision on your part. The manual is the only way! *imo* ive seen 07's sell for around 19k so if thats your price range look at the 06 07 models, you will not regret getting a manual or a newer car. I have on 04 manual and i love it runs great, i upgraded to the switch blade key but the whole no key start is pretty bad ***!

February of this year I got my 07 Sport MT for 21k. You could do MUCH better.

Good to see you're heading to the classifieds.

It really aggrevates me to see people buy Automatics, why in the hell would you buy a sports car in an automatic? Don't give me that I don't know how to drive a manual either, it takes about 3 or 4 days to get it down fairly well enough to drive effectively. Dude, learn how to drive a Manual before you but this car because if your buying a car for looks and not the engine then you might as well go with another vehicle.
