Questions on the Durability of the ’06 Auto
Does anyone know how durable the new 6spd auto will be? Will it be able to handle say, a twin screw supercharger running around 2 bar? As far as I understand it will be proprietary to the RX8, correct?

You want to run 2 bar out of a super charger on the RX8....wow, thats thinking big!
I have noidea about the details on the new 6speed auto. I would imagine is similar to the 6speed auto on the new miata, with a differnt bell housing and such to make it fit.

Basically the new 6AT from the MX5 so nobody knows.
Your first problem will be getting that kind of boost to run reliably on the Renesis much less the tranny.

no one knows since the ships havent hit the docks yet. but t least they are on the water now. you need to find out if its the same available on the Mazda6 because if it is then its the same one on the Fusion. and there were some FI Fusions at SEMA. you could check if they had the 6speed AT

I'm wondering if by 2 bar he means 2 bar total such as ambient (1 bar) plus another bar which would be what we would consider 14.7 psi or if he actually means 2 bar over atmospheric which would be 29.4 psi?

When it comes to how much power different parts of a car can take before they break, it is all directly proportionate to where your foot is on the gas pedal. In other words, driver abuse is far more likely to kill a vehicle than the power it produces is. Just because you have a 300 or even 400 hp car doesn't mean your transmission will automatically die. It all depends on how you drive it. If you beat on it and drive it hard, you'll kill it with the stock power levels. Drive it good and treat it good and it will last just fine.
