Question about MPG ?!!?

Well I just got yellow stick shift rx8 2004, and just like everybody else I'm realizing the mpg problem, and also I was thinking about COLD AIR INTAKE, It will probably improve my MPG and give me some more extra power.
So actually my question is does anyone have Intake in their car, and if so would this give me better millage per gallon ?

and btw how many miles do you run with FULL tank of gas ?!

THANK YOU !

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the club. I will try to save you from the inevitable flaming on your first post. Try using the search feature at the top of the page. The topics in your post (MPG and intakes) have been discussed extensively.

My 8 is completely stock. And if you want to find out my total miles on a full tank.. Well.. Here it goes.. About 200 miles. 200+; 205ish maybe, on some occasions.. Haha..

btw, I'm nice so you didn't need to search for that.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your 8. Like some folks have said already your mileage may vary wildly.

Personally, if I drive in a "normal" (as if it were a common piston engine) fashion with shifts around 6K in the City I get 21ish MPG. Not bad really. Now, if I hit the beeper a few times a day I'll see high teens MPG.

As for the CAI - you probably won't see much in HP or MPG gains. It will sound cool, but that will make you put your foot into it further reducing your MPG.

Don't calculate your mpg, you'll be happier. I never track mine, I just drive and smile. And if it needs gas, I just put more in it.

You can try and follow what this hypermiler does. It’s a four-page article, which is a bit much for most people so I will paraphrase some of his tips.

Remove extra weight
Close all windows turn off AC
Ride the white line on the right side of the right-hand lane when raining. driving through puddles in the tire ruts wastes fuel.
Learn how to ‘glide’, turn off the motor and coast in neutral when you can.
Brakes waste energy, learn to coast and take turns as fast as you can.
Park at the highest part of the lot so you can roll & start the car by popping the clutch.
Turn off the motor at lights & other stops.
Tailgate trucks for the draft effect.

yeah I'm getting around 200 maybe a little more with 93 octane gas but that's almost all city driving. The worst I ever got was 15.5mpg but the best was 19.9mpg. yeah I agree don't calculate you do feel better just drive it and fill it when needed. I also just got a Yellow 04 MT and I'm getting used the the gas mileage cause I used to drive a 98 eclipse that got like 25 to 35 depending on the driving. BUt good luck and enjoy the car.
