Unhappy Problems in Cold weather?

Not able to rev over 6k.

Does your car do this. The other day I started the car and took off. (OK I was late) Anyway I normally don't push the car until it warms up. But, being in a hurry, I punched the gas (I had been driving a couple of minutes) and the car coughed and acted like it hit a rev limiter at 6k rpm. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this supposed to happen?

Let me know.

The ECU is protecting the engine (consult the manual) but the coughing I'm not sure about.

The engine will cut-off fuel at 6k RPM to save your engine from damage. Never punch it before warming it up. If you need to leave ASAP, wait until needle falls to 1.5-2k and then keep RPM's low in shifting until the temperature needle rises to the middle.

Thanks. That is what I thought it was. Anyway, I have not done it since. I have to admit, it is real easy to rev the motor without realizing it. I try to keep the revs down below 4k until the motor warms up completely.

Even when cold, it never shoots up to about 3 - 3.5k and then slowly comes down?? You have a winner then...

Normal.

Default Protection.

When I start my car, sometimes it jumps up to 2.1 K for couple of seconds before it goes back down to like 1.8K.

Cuz its too cold, today is about 30, tonight will go around 26, couple days ago it was 20 degrees.
