Angry Problem with seat button sticking.

I have a bit of a dangerous problem. Often, when adjusting the seat position forward or rearward, the button sticks and seat continues to travel after I have released the button. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so how did you rectify it, if at all. I dont want to take it to dealer just for this, plus with my luck it wont do it for them. But I am worried because I did it yesterday while driving and the next thing I knew my knees were crunched against the dashboard while driving. Any ideas?
