Problem with my emergency brake indicator

My emergency brake indicator light on my dash panel is now constantly on. It's a minor annoyance which I would like to fix. I don't want to take my car back to the dealership if this is an easy problem to fix myself. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this a Fuse issue?

Check the switch...it's under the shifter cover right in front of the E-brake handle. The connector may have fallen off...or the switch may be broken.

If you look at an Axial Flow SS install you can see a DIY to access that area

not sure about the 8 but ive seen other mazdas indicate low break fluid or worn out breaks by the emergency break light .. dont ask me why .. i would never connect the two but thats what they do

so if the 8 does the same .. maybe your breaks are due for service

I was due to make a brake pad change but I didn't think there was a connection between the emergency brake light and my brake pads. I just got make brakes changed last week, and my emergency brake light is back to nomal. So either it's a coincidence or Dupa12345 was correct.

take it to service! My mom's mazda protege brake light lights up when the brake fluid is low, or in her case, she needed new brake pads.

Fluid Level Worn out pads causes fluid level to go down because of the pad wear...the pistons have to stick out more to push the pads against the rotors. It seems that when the light comes on that the pads are about gone.....that's nice. My BMW had a much smaller reserve capacity and it would set off the light much sooner.
