Problem With An Engine Oil

Hi everybody, I am new in the club. Please help me, I have a problem with the engine oil. It's so thick and it is a cappuccino color. I just went to dealer and asked and they said it's ok. But I just wanted to make sure about that. Does the oil supposed to look like that?

Thank you guys for the help.

Arrow Define....

How do you define "thick"?
Did you change it?
What was the temperature?
You say it's "cappuccino" colored....why do you think that is bad?
Did you expect it to stay "golden"?
Are you judging by the look of the drips on the dipstick?

...enquiring minds want to know!

As long as it's not black and there are no particles floating around in the oil it should be fine. Just make sure you are checking the level of the oil every so often, adding more if necessary, and changing the oil every 7500 miles.

I use Valvoline Synpower 5W-20, and it is already kind of thick and cappucino-colored...

Changing your oil more frequently will preserve its original color and viscosity. I change mine every 3000-4500 miles.

If it's thick like molasses you have an issue. What is your frame of reference to define "thick"?
