Yes when I was a young man the dealer did the first service and then I kept a complete history of everything I did the rest of their life. Usually oil&filter and plugs(back when there was lead fouling things up, clean and adj or replace) every month. I love the iridium plugs. One of the down falls of the rotary is how ruff they are on plugs. Now people are getting 35-45K under good conditions, some more if its mostly hi-way. Piston engines 100K no problem.

Doing anything with my R3 is always fun. And as far as I know the OEM is the only filter as well but several places sell online.

You can order them from Med Center Mazda and some other places online.

Any of you R3 people want to show a picture? I'm very curious as the K&N is almost exactly the same shape just has the bolt head on top.

my 2 pennies...U never know what those maggots are gonna do...last time jiffy lube broke my coolant reservoir, thank god I didnt overheat my engine. So that oil change came out to $45+$150=$195. Not the cheapest oil change I've done. If you want something right, do it yourself man. equip yourself with the tools you need at home and it takes like 20 minutes. What I like to do is I make my oil change my "rx8 day". She gets detailed in and out...washed under the hood...top off fluids...tire pressure adjustments if needed...wax...xtra love on the leather...brush out dust in those tight spaces. Everytime I drive after I do all that feels like I just bought a brand new car man.
