This could explain the comment I saw in one of the car magazines in their first review of the 09 RX-8. They quoted someone from Mazda as saying, "This is the RX-8 we wanted to build in the first place." (paraphrasing)

I wondered at the time what the hell they could have meant by that, but if this Ford bean counter accusation is true (and I would not be the least bit surprised, especially for Ford of that date), it would make perfect sense.

Hopefully the S2 is more reliable and last longer. If it does work out, maybe FI is a factory option in the near future

Would be nice if they put 09 engines/ecus into failed S1 vehicles... given the plausible extra reliability... but we all know that won't happen...

^ And that would help how? I tihnk you are missing the major upgrade in the S2 engine, the extra oil injectors.

He meant that the engine + ECU would be installed in an S1 car.

Why group buy? I bought a crate of Idemitsu from Mazdatrix for $70 and its gonna end up lasting me 1 1/2 to 2 years.

Group buy saves you $20.00. 1.5 - 2 years? You must not drive much.
