Powertrain warranty transferable?

Hey peoples.

Looking at an RX-8... this one in paticular:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Now I know the 8-year / 100,000 mile engine replacement warranty is transferable... but what about the 5-year / 60,000 mile powertrain warranty?

Yes, the warranty is with the car. Not the owner.

Further, the 8Y/100K drivetrain warranty (as well as the 5/60 bumper-to-bumper) is based on the original owner's purchase date (e.g. I bought my '05 in late March of 2006, hence March 2014).

I think your confused. Bumper-to-bumper is 3yr/36k Powertrain is 5/60 and Engine Core ONLY is 8/100

^ yes, I over (or is that under-) spoke, but was mostly just trying to impart that the commencement of warranty (for any of the three discrete programs) is the original buyer's purchase date.

I've only been 'round here 4+ years now, so sometimes I do get 'confused' with the same ol' questions.

acctually 06's and possily 07 or 08 (not sure) had a longer b2b then other model years. I think its like 4 yr 50k or somethng like that. all i know is mine expired about 1-2 months ago and the car was purchased apr of 06.

edit: and to the OP i love the 80th interior and think you should get that 8

B-B was 4/50 up through 2006, then dropped down to 3/36 in '07. I've always wondered if that was a sign of the RX-8 proving itself so reliable that a longer B-B was no longer needed, or Mazda just running out of sun visors and heater *****.

The 5/60 powertrain and 8/100 engine core were both instituted in '06, and retroactive back to the beginning.

I have the exact same car for sale in the 'For Sale' section, except it only has 4,900 miles. Same Price too.

Bumper to Bumper is valid through 11-2011 or 36,000 on my 8.

I will be trading it in in July to a dealer if it doesn't sell here
