Power to weight ratio?
For a naturally aspirated motor, I think it's quite possible that the actual RX8 motor itself has the best power to weight ratio of any production car...ever. It might not be true, but at least it's gotta be close. I just thought of this and realized how awesome that is.

You have to kidding!!!!!!!!!
It's not even close to best NA power to weight for a production engine.
Just one example... a run-of-the-mill aluminum block Chevy 6.2L LS3 V8 with it's "ancient" ohv technology has 430hp and weighs 415 lbs fully dressed. That's the engine in the base level Corvette, the Pontiac G8 GXP, and the Camaro SS.

It's not even the best power to weight N/A rotary engine in a road going vehicle - Norton takes that one!
And OS makes a 1.27hp version that weighs under 12oz dressed, so I'd imagine that takes the overall power/weight ratio for an N/A rotary to boot, given it can run on nitro from the outset and make 2.2bhp.

To have a meaningful discussion here, the engine must be
A) Production (completely stock, no mods, and produced in mass quantities)
B) Normally aspirated (no turbo. no nitrous. no supercharger, no turbonator, no hair dryers)
Not sure where a turbo renesis, or a turbo modded evo, or even a 20b racing engine has anything to do with comparing other STOCK PRODUCTION NA engines.
Simple answer? Renesis is not the best hp/weight production engine. Not saying it sucks, because I love the Renny... it's just it's not that great if you measure it ONLY by that standard.

The LS series will (mostly) fit in a RX7 and RX8 with minimal weight gain (in some cases loss)
The Z06 has a power:weight of just over 6. the stock RX8 is nowhere close. Nowhere.
