Power Upgrades!
Im stuck. Ive got my 8 looking good one the outside but now its time to go under the hood. I've got aftermarket exhaust and thats it. I need some ideas on what upgrades I should look into. Im fixin to deploy so I want to do some big upgrades to it while Im gone so when I get home it can be my weekend car and I will buy me another one for a daily driver.

Check out the "major power upgrades" section
You need the greddy turbo kit for the car, the mazdamaniac turbo upgrade, and a cobb AP. You need a ton of other stuff too and a good installer/tuner
Good luck!

Really, you should be searching and posting in the major HP upgrades section. There is a plethora of information, and the choice will end up being subjective.
But since you are military, I'll help ya out a bit.
You can spend upwards of 6k and get a MM upgraded GReddy turbo and RWHP in the 3XXs, or you can sell you car and buy something with more power/responds better to mods.
Or you can get Clutch/flywheel from Charles R. Hill (BHR) and 55 shot of nitrous from Charles R. Hill @ BHR and the cobb AP from MazdaManiac, and you will see a decent increase in power/accel. for about 2-3k

Agreed and the most important thing is to do your research and pick a final goal for the car. What you will use the car for (street, strip, track or show) may effect what the best kit for you is. Unless you have the money to buy everything at once, buy pieces here and there until you have everything you need. Some things like, mid-pipes, radiator, water pump, cobb AP from MM, igntion upgrade, guages (a/f, coolant, and even vac./boost) can be installed now and are a must for latter. What you dont want to do is buy the big item (turbo) and not the small stuff and run into problems, like a blown motor because you overheat the car. Also, keep an eye open for used or even new items for sale in the FS section and pick them up for a reduced cost.
