Power steering is gone !!! HELP PLEASE....

I have 05 touring rx8 with only 50xxx miles. Power steering went out of the blue. Took it to the dealer and they said its my steering rack and quoted me 3000 to get it fixed. I have read about this problem some say change the harness, some say clean the plug.. I just really want to get this car fixed. Any information would help. any shop you guys know of ??? I am located in san francisco ca.

HUGE THANKS IN ADVANCE

I have cleaned out the connectors. Took it to the dealer and they said it's the rack not the module.
Anything I should check for??

Hit up your junkyard for a connector.

Was the connectors dry when you plugged them back in?

You could try hard wiring the connectors. Did it to my car, no problems since. If that doesnt work you can get a new harness and let a dealer change the whole rack. More than likely its just the harness however.

Search the forum for the DIY before you buy into what the dealer told you to replace.
