He's looking to get an AT and in AT form the IS300 is faster than the AT RX-8.

Sorry, I never bothered to drive the AT RX-8...seemed like a waste of time when there was the 6spd

I saw a video about an 80's toyota Diesel pickup that would make me thing other wise :D It was dropped from a few stories up, washed out in the tide of the ocean, driven through a brick wall, and placed on the top of a pretty large/high building when it was blown up. Only with simple hand tools could they fix it, and it was still running and driveable after everything.

As far as Mazdas having crappy resale value, I think this statement has little basis on fact, however anytime dealers widely sell new cars BELOW invoice, I wouldn't expect the car to have great resale, especially if you are trying to resell within 2 years of purchase, because who is going to buy a GT RX-8 with 10,000 miles for 24-25,000 when you can buy a brand new one for 27,000? Don't forget you have to pay a lot of money for sales tax and registration on top of that you wont recoup either.

I got the spare even though I live in a major metro area, but I think your advice is sensible for those who are concerned about trunk space or weight. I just couldn't stand the thought of not having a spare on board for the 5% of the time I'm driving in a rural area. What if you get a flat on I-5? That would just be a pain I don't want to deal with.

Oh who cares about all the important, logical stuff? What matters is how HOT the RX-8 looks. That's all its about, baby.

5 years of driving thousands and thousands of miles and I have only gotten one flat, in which I couldn't get my spare down so I had someone come by, we took the tire off and had it fixed and put it back on. Tires are huge leaps beyond what they used to be like these days, flats just don't happen very often anymore.

If you are 16 - do NOT buy a sports car. (note the period).

Buy a 75 International Scout, or 79 Torrino Wagon.

As far as your uncle is concerned it doesn't sound like he sells too many 8's with an attitude like that. Some of my co-workers actually tried talking me out of buying the 8 because the were jealous. Sounds like that may be the case with your uncle.

I don't want you to crash. That's all. I've never met a 16 year old who I'd give the keys to a sports car to - nothing personal. Just read about young people and expensive/fast/etc cars too often
