I'm not going to tell you to do a search.. but it's going to be A LOT cheaper to trade the car in and get a new 6spd rx8

Well, if cost does not matter... then anything is possible.

Keep in mind though that the odds are you'll need to switch much more then just the tranny. You'll probably need to swap out the driveline, ECU, differential, as well as other items that are available on the 6-speed that don't come with the auto... all in addition to the tranny.

It would probably cost you MUCH less money to trade in the auto and get a new stick.... plus, you can keep your warranty if you go that route.

if cost doesn't matter, trade in your auto and get a 6sp.

and while i'm sure it is possible (anything is possible with enough money), you'd still be stuck with a 4 port, low output engine.

That just means you have to add the Motor to the list of things that need to be swapped.

Motor
ECU
Tranny
Driveshaft
Diff
Intake (not sure if it's the same)
Exhaust (at least the header)
Tach

I think a new MT 8 would be more economical.

It's costly, but still relatively simple...there are low-power RX8's sold worldwide with manual trannies.

Just need a Flywheel/clutch setup/correct counter weights
transmission
PPF
drive shaft
starter
ECU
brake master cyl
clutch hydraulics
pedal assemblies
center console
shifter
maybe a 5 speed guage cluster(you can keep the auto one, but it will have PRNDL readout)

The transmission, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, starter, ecu, console, and guage clucter can be sourced from a euro low power 5 speed

the rest can be sourced localy

If cost doesn't matter...how about I trade you my 6sp for your auto + $10k. You won't have the hassle of your car in the shop for a few weeks.

I was just answering the question...is it possible....yes.

But I'm going to advise to trade it in on a 6 speed if you really want a manual tranny RX8.

Did anyone else think this was going to be a post from Abbid until you saw Minda instead? I saw the title and rolled my eyes before I saw who posted it.

Is it possible to switch the tranny?

Yup....I did it.

Along with the color, got more accessories, and a navigation system too (which is useless in Miami).
