dehijacking the thread, I bought auto because it was 22k(24 + all tax and crap) and was new 07, the manuals were.......29k and wouldn't bulge, so, what the hell, I can afford to lose a clutch, but now I miss it.......
anyhow, if you can buy auto for atleast 1 or 2k cheaper, I think its worth it, if same price, go with manual unless you really hate manual
did.......we scare him off?

Krankor is def. right - if you want AT for the right reasons then go for it. If it's just b/c you don't know how to drive MT, then get an MT and learn. You can do it, and there's no better time than now.
The other advice is dead on - if you do go with AT (for the right reasons ) then you should look for an 06 or 07 AT.
Like any car, there are pros and cons - take a look around the site and you'll find out what they are for the 8, and decide based on the right information. Good luck!
perhaps you weren't rubbing it the right way?

I had a civic si before my rx8 mt and I enjoy the increased performance of the rx8 mt, if I had the at, i would be disapointed. There are many more benefits of an rx8 over a civic / other econo-boxes, however, for 25k new, there are certain cars you just need to be faster then and the rx8 at isn't.
