Yay, easier to reach dipstick! No more burns...

Hopefully the dipstick is a bit lighter in color...

Any word on what that new tranny is? I'm hoping for a DSG...

those are the only 2 pics that i was able to get i was excited and in a hurry cause i was not even suppose to see the engine but thanks to my cousin he kinda just called me over and said that he was working on a rx8 prototype he he just did a oil change on, and the oil pan is not relocated it is just position different he said the trans was different as well, when asked what the difference was he said shorter gear ratio, i'll see if i can take a look at this car again and take better pics with my cam those pics i posted is from my cell phone thats why didnt look the greatest.

im not gonna call bs bc there ARE mazda employees on this site...cough cough. but i do kno that...THERE ARE MAZDA EMPLOYEES ON THIS SITE! id be real careful about releasing pics of stuff like that!

i see a few diffs, like the oil dipstick, oil filler tube cap, (looks like ones from the mazda3/6/cx7 etc etc)
pcv hose from the filler neck runin along the aux intake port....etc etc etc

what i wish for was the oil filter being moved to undernearh the car, damn that suckers hard to reach and customers cars are always at 300 degrees when im tryin to reach for that thing!

Well, there do appear to be enough differences to make it believable. Thanks for the pics, hasnt really been any detailed info on the engine yet so even a little is appreciated.

Just taking a stab in the dark here -FWIW I'm guessing these are not so much prototype new engines but just Mazda testing some mods to see what works in high heat areas .

^ i agree with brettus, its probably not a next gen rotary but a second edition renesis with most of it's problems being ironed out.

Thanks for posting up. I'm curious what things are different and if it really is that new engine they've been talking about.

Anything else that you can tell us? Does your cousin think its significantly different than the current 8 like more powerful or anything?

It's true. Look at the picture. That is a preformed plasitc cover over the A/C line.

That proves my A/C DIY mod works.

No 8 I have seen has ever had that plastic cover. Or is it new for 07 or 08.

Thne look at the ECU wiring.

I bet his story is true.

Can anyone her esay they have the black plastic cover over the A/C line?

What about the oil filler cap? That line goes to the intake manifold right?

That wa snew on 06 right. If not is that also a change?

What up with the radiator hose under the front tower bar?

I thought that was a TB mod but nope.

Picuture does not prve it's an 2010 engine but clearly show Mazda doing research if all the things I've seen or question are new and not on any car. Of course the Oil dip stick was alread mentioned. Never seen that either.

If it was a true 2010 engine, it's missing the chrome cylinder before the TB.

It replaces the rubber trube. AKA AFSC

That bent piece of tin proves nothing about any a/c mods.....Sorry.
...it actually looks like it was intended to make changing the oil filter just a little more difficult!

If you're going to put a factory turbo on a car there are just some things you need to do to the engine to make sure it runs reliably with it.

^ Ja, that statment means nothing and I wanted to see if someone would catch that. Glad it wasn't MM..... otherwise my back would be all bloody from the Whip.

However........ the plastic (Your right it could be tin) had to have been made for Mazda. So, who has one like that now?

It also has bolts to hold up the engine cover.

I do not think the pictures show a 2010 rotary prototype. Mainly because that will happen much later in the future and in Japan.

The pics probably show a renesis revision with some few changes in the reliability side and -perhaps- some minor changes in the power/economy department.

About the transmission, I also doubt Mazda will go for -overall- shorter gear ratios. I wish they go for a sequencial 6/7 speed for the 2008 model but at least they could improve the current manual transmission by shortening the first 5 gears (particularly 4th and 5th for better acceleration) and lengthening 6th (for better fuel economy). The sequencial gear box would make the car more appealing not just for sport enthusiasts but also for daily drivers... and it is reasonable to have it implemented in a 2008 edition

It is a good piece of news that Mazda is doing something for RX-8 other than special editions and colours to choose from.

Hope to see this prototype implemented in production cars soon.

Regards

From what I was told some of your just might want to trad in lol Think of it like this, This info is not going to kill you if he's right then what? (in sert foot you know the rest) we just might have a more powerful engine but thats not going to solve our cooling issues and you can seach all my post I have been saying this from day one, this car runs way to hot and needs more cooling.

Swoope, can you fine the tbs or what every there called that you sent me some time back about the ac amp and the heat shelds due to over heating cup holders and someone on here had there ipod get fryed due to this issue.
Thanks,
-Gilbert

tnx for the hedz up...looking forward to this..i believe him. My pop was I.T. for MNAO for over 10 years and they do this shyt all the time. Like when the 1st rx8's came out, they already had a few supercharged. Obviously that never worked out. hahaha
