Picking up new one on Saturday - what should I look for?
Other than cosmetic blemishes, is there anything I should pay particular attention to before taking delivery on the 2007 RX-8? It has 65 miles and I've test driven it. On the test drive at speeds around 55+, the tires started to thump. I suspect it was due to the cold weather and the fact the car was probably sitting for some time with the snow on it.
It's been sitting inside so hopefully the tires will be fine on Sat., then it's time for some snow tires.

Yeah, the tires will do that until they warm up. Since you will have a full warranty you will have plenty of time to check for problems. Just make sure that you DO NOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE COLD, or you may pay the price. That is, the engine may flood.
And, as I'm sure you are aware, the rotary engine is designed to consume engine oil for "upper" engine cooling and lubrication. So, check the oil level frequently, at least until you get a fix on the rate of oil consumption.
Oh, and check under the front bumper cover to make sure the screws/bolts holding the front of the underbody pan are in place--especially if the car has the added front aero piece. The installers have a habit of "forgetting" to install those screws/bolts.
Otherwise, spend some time reading posts in this forum--especially the Tech and DIY sections. There is a wealth of information in this forum that will save you time and money, not to mention skinned knuckles and ulcers.

In terms of the flooding problem that the older Rx8 experienced that is not an issue with the 2007 models. I own a 2007 and I have on multiple occasions started the car and then immediatly turned it off withing less than a minute. The new engine management software prevents flooding from occuring. So you won't have to worry about that.
Just get ready for the stares and the questions that you'll be getting from other peopl on the street!!
