Picked up my Black on Black 2007 RX8 Monday, Hit by a drunk driver Same Day (Pics)

I just picked up my 2007 RX8 on Monday
A drunk driver hit me that same monday.
I couldnt believe it. after about 8 months researching which car to get, and then this.
The guy begged and pleaded not to call the police!
Then he left the scene of the crime, i had to chase him and drag him back to the accident!

Sucks.
i wish the insurance company would total the car, but they said it didnt have any frame damage, and the airbags didnt deploy.
about $8000 + in damages. Oh, and the guy didnt have insurance!

Do you think i will have problems with the rotary engine after a crash like this?

Oh wow, that's awful! Poor 8. At least you're OK. I hope you get it back soon just like new.

I hope that drunk driver gets to spend some time in jail, he could have killed you.

Driving without insurance in Texas is illegal. I don't know if it is where you live, but thats some bullshit. He should get his license revoked until the judge approves him back. He should also go to jail... drinking and driving, fleeing, not having insurance...wow, what a waste of a human.

it might not be a total.

if it was a used car, not much you can do. If it was new, you may be able to convince them to buy you a new one. They might be willing to do it if they think they will be able to sue him. Either way push them for it. Thats what you pay insurance for, and if you have uninsured motorist coverage (hopefully) you should be covered for at least 25k (50 for the expensive vs.).
Push for it, and you probably will get it.

Yeah, i was pretty mad!
I live in dallas, they did lock him up after i brought him back to the accident.
When i brought the car i took it to a mazda dealer to do a pre-buy inspection. Everything came back perfect, now it's been in an accident, and i'm hoping that i dont start to have a lot of little unexplained problems, not to mention if it comes up on the carfax report

wow sorry to hear that, sucks your new car excitement didn't even last a day

From the pics it does look like it repairable, just take it to a reputable place. But still sucks, waiting for the bodyshop, etc.

If you have to repair it instead of getting a new one.. say hello to an aftermarket body kit they are actually cheaper than purchasing all new parts directly from Mazda...

When I read your first post I figured you had to live in Texas.

I've been hit by 2 uninsured bastards since I've bought my RX-8.

I have a '07 black on black too.

Since I've been hit by 2 uninsured drivers I can tell you its treated the same as an at fault accident.
