Paint dilemma

Ok so I have a 05' Velocity Red. About 1.5 years ago someone backed into the passenger side of my car. This was fixed out of pocket and blended by a good body shop.

Now about 1 month ago someone backed into the drivers side. On the passenger side Im having some clear issues which they are going to warranty and repaint.

Should I have the whole car repainted? Im worried about the red fading over time.

The car does get waxed 2 - 3 times a year, garage kept. When Im at work it is in a parking garage. So it doesnt spend time in the elements very often.

Should I pay out of pocket to have the whole car resprayed or trust a blend?

Repaint the whole car.

Especially if you plan to keep it for more than a couple years.

I would say repaint it also. Keep in mind $2K and up.

Take care,

Brian

Well insurance is taking care of the latest wreck.

What would be the best way of pursuading the paint shop to repaint the whole car?

I could go to another shop but then again I gotta pursuade them to repaint the whole thing.

Any tips?

tell them you dont want your car to look like its eighteen diferrent colors and try to befriend him before asking. its more money in their pocket so just convince them to give a high estimate

Yeah Ive been to about 5 different body shops here in the Dallas area and they all say my paint isnt damaged and dont recommend a full repaint.

A shop is turning down money?

If you pay the difference, any shop will do a full repaint.

the autobody industry is controlled by the insurance companies. very few shops want to do more work than they think is necessary. its not like decent shops need more business.

also, a repaint will lower the resale of a car since dealerships wont believe it wasnt in a major accident. very good bodyshops can blend it to be absolutely imperceptible.

i would ask around for a bodyshop that is known and trusted by car clubs in the plano area.

for all the md/dc/va people, there's only one i trust. thats mr. spoiler in manassas.

Yeah Service King is highly recommended in the DFW area.

They do alot of work for dealers.

I might just go with them, Im just worried about the paint fading over time.
