Owner to Owner Wave
I've gotten a few waves back. Most of the time tho it's a funny look. I've gotten a few waves as well. But most just act like it's another car (technically, I guess they're right as it does have four wheels and an engine).
The only time it's strange is if I'm driving my wife's car, the matrix, and I forget and wave... then I get REALLY strange looks. The look of, do I know that guy?

I wave at other 8's if I'm in my 8. Although I don't see too many of them other than mine when I'm in mine. Kinda like the Wrangler or Motorcycle wave, but in the 8, the other person usually either isn't paying attention or has a strange look on his face as to why I am waving. I guess if you never owned a Wrangler or a Bike people just don't get it.
When I was a kid my dad had a verity of European sport cars he use to tool us around in and was always waving at like cars or toting the horn. I especially remember the safety orange 124 Fiat sport couple, it had a high-pitched air horn and he was always totting back and forth with other 124s. I guess people were more cudgel back then.
we I see another RX-8 I'll see if I get a wave.

I wave at every 8 I see even if it is parked.
I do get a great deal of waves back but there are a small crowd that don't want to spoil their cool and make any sudden moves like waving back.
I also wave or give a thumbs up to all the exotic cars in the area. And I always get a thumbs up back from them. I passed up a guy in his brand new Lamborghini Gallardo he was all smiles while driving that and looked over and saw the 8 smiles waved thumbs up and took off I caught up with him and he waved again and floored it.

I parked next to a nearly identical RX-8 at Target last night. It was odd. If it weren't for the fact that the other had a spoiler, I don't think I could have told the difference.
I waved but there was nobody in the car to wave back

I usually wave at 8 owners that I see here but most of the time they never wave back so I have stopped doing it really. But what is really aggravating is that I ALWAYS see them if I am in my old 93 chevy blazer beater car but never in my 8. The only time I do see them in the 8 is at night because I can usually pick out the tail lights. The xenon lights usually grab my attention and tell me to look at the tail lights. Like yesterday I passed a black 8 with a hottie in the driver's seat. I started to wave but then I realized I wasn't in the 8.
Only ever gotten 1 wave before, and a few revs..

My only complaint, however, is that the majority of RX-8 owners in this area do not understand this unwritten code of ethics.
So, I say..."RX-8 OWNERS SHARE THE LOVE...AND WAVE!"

Odd. *I* do that for other sports cars - especially really rice ones. No Mr. Eclipse, Mr. Mustang, no wave for you.

1/12

Miata drivers do it with Zoom (also).
