Oil metering issue?

I've read on here that my 8 should use about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. Currently I am using about 1/2 quart every 1,000 miles. Does this sound right? I'm not worried about seal lubrication because I pre-mix with Protek-R. Does anyone else have simular oil usage on their 8's?

Oil metering pump output is load and throttle position related.

If you drive the crap out of it it can use way more oil than "normal"...or way less if you are babying it. 1/2 qt per 1000 miles sounds OK...

Everyday driving I am shifting at about 5,000 RPM. I drive pretty hard and redline it every other time I drive it.

Just for example.....OMP values on a Series one ECU vary from 0-60 units...if you are cruising at low throttle you are in the 10ish range.....and when you are on the throttle at high RPM's you are up to 60...so you can see that it really depends on your driving.

I have used a quart of oil in 200 miles on the track...

I think your 1/2 qt per 1000 miles is OK
