o2 Code P0037 - Could this be triggered from over-filling oil?

Okay, I've searched all over this site & can't find a direct answer. It's probably right in front of my nose, but I'm just missing it.

Here's the deal...I've got a performance shop that I have work on my cars, and I brought my 8 in a couple weeks ago to have all the fluids flushed & an oil change while she was in there.

Everything was fine driving home, but the next day on my way to work the CEL turned on (solid). The code is P0037, and I know it is the rear o2 sensor.

Now...I've seen someone mention it on here, but is it possible that this whole o2 sensor problem may have been triggered from the oil being over-filled? Or is it probably just a coincidence that I threw a CEL the next time I drove it?

I'm not even sure if it was over-filled...the guy that normally works on my cars didn't do this work though, so I'm a bit skeptical (they always take GREAT care of my cars, but the dude that worked on it this time had a dirty hat on & ended up marking the roof liner up with oil stains from the bill of his cap! They did get them all out...)

How many miles on your 8? The rear O2 does go out on older, higher mileage cars. Did you also inspect it for damage?

if im not mistaken i thought the p0037 CEL is for O2 sensor bank 1 which would be the front one? whats funny about all of this is i got my oil changed and 4 days later my CEL came on with this same error. i swore it was for the O2 sensor b4 the cat.

im sorry P0037 is the rear. P0031 is the front. im getting issues with the front. im hesitant to buy a $250 O2 sensor for the front and it not be the issue.

I did try to rest the ECU last week...unfortunately it didn't do anything. O2 Sensor doesn't look damaged, so I figure I'll just get another one. Bummer!

That sucks that yours died so soon. My 04 has 104k on the clock and no issues *knock on wood* yet. Good luck fixing it.

Guess I'll be on the watch then. Wonder if an 02 mod and midpipe would be more worth it than replacing the sensor itself....we'll see when the time comes.

My cel is on for this same reason. The rear o2 sensor isn't that important. It is just there to tell you if the cat is doing its job. I'm just ignoring it for now.

doubt its from the oil change. overfilled oil can damage the cat.
Silicone and lead (from leaded gas) kill 02 sensors.

With an o2 sensor its usually 2 things, the sensor, or the wiring.
