Not your 'usual' European spec question...

I have never had Google fail to bring me an answer, even after an hour of searching, in two languages, but...

Uncle Sam has sent me to Italy for a little while, and he let me bring my '8 with me. It is currently on a freighter, not due for another few weeks.

I need to know the dimensions of the license plate area of the rear bumper. I also need to know the dimensions of Italian license plates. In the EU, they're all 'European' plates, but searching only found dimensions for Austria (also, older Italian plates), and nothing saying all are the same size.

Will the normal style (Italian) plate fit, or must I have the square one (blah!)? It's just so much bigger than the US plate, and it looks terrible. I've seen three plate styles: rectangle, short rectangle (for the front), and the aforementioned square.

As a curiosity, I have another question. I have been meanwhile renting a Fiat Punto. On the dash it has this awesome button labeled 'City.' Do you European-made '8 owners have this? I'm going to miss that when my car arrives.

Ciao Ciao

no, no rx8s have a button labeled city. thats because they are made for the alps, not rome. have fun in northern italy though.

and im pretty sure all modern euro plates are the same dimension. so austrian plate dimensions will work.
