This is not good...
I was wondering what would happen if I lose both the spare and main key? Am I in deep trouble. I will most likly have to get it towed to mazda and what would they do, can they get a key by using the vin number? Today in the gym someone stole my main key, some money, and my spare I have no clue where it is. I know I sound like a dumb as* for not knowing where my spare key is, hope I find it...
Thanks
Thanks

when you bought your car, Mazda should have given you a specific code to get replacement keys, in the event you lose both of your original sets.
When I got my car, Mazda made it VERY CLEAR not to lose those codes, as those codes make it very easy to get replacements. If you don't have them, I suppose your VIN would do, though you'll probably have to show some type of proof of ownership, since anyone can get your VIN from your car and call Mazda.

Just went to the dealer, and their going to order a key for me. Thanks everyone.
As for how it got stollen, I had a huge duffle bag so I just left it under the bench in the locker room. I live in a really wealthy area so, I would think nobody would be low enough to go through my bag. Big Mistake.

They have no choice..once the owner is down to one "valid" key you have to use the WDS to access to incode/outcode process. Once there it will erase the other keys capibility to START the car. The key code on the tag only tells the dealer how to cut the pattern for the ignition.

On topic. A gym in a wealthy area isn't safe because of that, in fact its more prone to being ripped off.
If your a theif where would you rather steal a wallet from
A: A gym in a crappy area where most people probably have $5 on them and wouldn't care about going to jail for killing you if you stole it
B: A gym in a rich area where most people are exuctives who go there to play raquet ball and probably carry $100 plus numerous credit cards in their wallets.
The answer is obvious, but you know that now and I'm not trying to lecture. My gym had a similar problem. Its in a good area in the suburbs and there was a string of thefts, the theifs actually cut locks off the lockers during peak gym hours. That takes some *****. Anyways they took car keys, not to steal cars, but to unlock them knowing that most people leave their wallet in the car when they go to the gym. A few people found their car doors open with the keys still in it.
So always hide your valuables in the car and carry your keys with you. Its annoying to carry them around while you work out, but its the only way to be safe. Locker rooms just aren't secure.

If you have the spare key and the valet key you should have gotten if you bought the car new, you can program the new key using those keys and don't need to pay the dealer to do the programming. Obviously, you will have to get the new key cut, but you can program it yourself using the instructions that I believe are somewhere on this forum.
If they got your keyless remote, you can also program a new one yourself. Go to eBay and you will find used keyless remotes for the RX-8 at reasonable prices.
