Noooo!!!
so my buddy has a 2000 mustang gt conv. w/ 92k miles. runs pretty good. he has exhaust and a hyptech programmer. and well ive always been able to beat him in the 1/8 and 1/4 when i was stock besides my g-force tires. now he order headers,373 gears, bbtb, and short throw shifter.
i will have only act pro flywheel, c/m clutch. k&n filter w/ airbox mod and ap pulleys on b4 he installs this. so my question is how bad you think hes gonna beat me now lol? man this sux!! so im waiting to get my race flash and midpipe and exhaust after this you still think he'll own me?
i dont know how well his car is gonna adapt to all of this most likely pretty well since its a ruststang. what you guys think ?

the 8 is not a straight line car. tell him to bring the car to an auto cross track and you will smoke him. that year of mustangs are HORRIBLE on handling. trust me, i have the same car

freak mod.. i dunno its a 2000 and they have a high 14 low 15 1/4 mile. i launch at 6k w/ no wheel spin and he goes at 2500 w/ spin. its not its a new mustang.
and i know the whole around a track thing but ive been a straight line guy my whole life and where we live in a small town w/ alot of back roads no one cares about on a curve track its all about the straight line..

all im really worried about are the headers and 3.73 gears. im just wondering w/ all the mods in my sig besdies the turbo if ill even have a chance since the rx8 doesnt like to gain hp numbers unless you turbo it. it dont matter this summer imma go turbo but i dont wanna lose in the mean time lol

Headers, exhaust and SS alone should be enough for that car to beat yours down the strip (thats implying both drivers are equal). Like Woods said, V8's love being opened up and get pretty good gains from those 2 bolt ons. 2000 GT's arent all that fast stock, especially convertible, high 14's low 15's sounds bout right dep. on the driver (numbers which are bout same as the 8), so......
either way i dont think u should worry too much about being able to beat him or not. His car is made to go fast straight, urs not so much, so, consider urself fortunate to keep up at all at the strip.

373 gears will make a HUGE difference, headers not as much.
The fact that is a convertible makes it more heavy than a coupe. I owned a 2001 GT with vortech s/c. It was a fun car but felt like a brick in corners.

Buddy has an 05 Cobra putting down some ungodly amount of power (~550whp) down with a simple swap of a few parts...
You can only go knocking down their path for so long...eventually you will lose...straight line bang for buck goes to the stangs...

We're gonna be meeting up this weekend...he's bringing the snake up from San Antonio...
Most stang owners respect other peoples car's for what they are...and unfortunately become drunk with stoplight power eventually...
Depending on the driver's personality...they either become a race provoking asswad...or the mature but easily provoked into a race asswad...
I say "asswad" because when drunk with torque, AND once provoked...they will be sure to get it into your head...
"This is stang country...you never had a chance..."
Generally by being ****** about it by re-defeating you over and over...sometimes lightly holding the brakes so the lights are on...letting you know they are beating you WHILE holding the brakes...intentionally re-rev at you...slow down...and ensure you get a good stomping...hence..."asswad"
Nothing against the drivers personally...I'd probably be the same way...that car is great at what it does...its fun as hell to drive...and I would eventually get the invincibility feeling that would turn me into an asswad too...
Except...I like turning...alot...that's where I find my fun...different strokes for different folks...
Sometimes when I drive someone else's car I feel like I'm cheating on my car...I always enjoy myself, and have driven cars I never thought I'd ever get a chance to...oddly enough, especially recently...but when I come back and get back into my car...I can't help but still feel like the RX is home...still puts on the goofy smile...and I guess since its a "torque-less wonder", it forces us to focus more on the other aspects of driving...all which are less about 0-60...
guess RX drivers are the "snobs" on the road...haa
