There are articles up showing that your initial weight can never be too low, as in 0w-xx. I'm not sure why people feel it has to be more then 10w when it's only effects starting performance and not when the oil is warmed up under load.

Would you rather have thicker oil to attempt to start your engine up or thinner oil?

Bah screw it, 710 sauce ftw.

0W-40 or 5W-40 FTW. If you change it often you can't pick a better oil IMO.

Oh well 5W-40 is awesome but Royal Purple charges atleast $10 a quart for it, I think it's more like $12 a quart... I'd love to use it but that oil cost way too much...

I am running Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W-40. It is $19.95 a gallon at Walmart. I put this in after dropping my pan for the Mazmart oil pressure kit. This stuff has done great on other UOA's so we will see. Royal Purple is a waste of money IMO.

I usually hit up a local Pep Boys when it's time for an oil change. They carry Royal Purple 5w30 @ $9/quart. However, oil change is coming up and going to look for an alternative synthetic or just go back to conventional altogether, most likely in a higher weight. It is pretty pricey.

...synthetic ...It is pretty pricey.
Even pricier if your engine blows and you go to a dealer who counts synthetic against you.

Not taking sides, even though the page I reposted does. Just one of those things to consider. If you prefer synthetic, make sure you find a dealer who does not believe in the no-synth mantra.
