Thumbs up non functioning meter

hello to all members.i am a new member.nice site with very useful info for members like me who reside in a country which has very few rx8's and fewer people who understand them.guys i need help.
yesterday after a normal drive i parked my vehicle.after an hour or so i needed go out again.after getting into the car i switched on the ignition but got no display on the speedometer.the only icons its showing are airbag, door light, security and seatbelt liights.the meter does not light up.there is no display for rpm, speed, temp, oil, gears(by the way its an auto 2003)etc.the car is driving normally with no obvious fault.no one over understands what has gone wrong.any help will be appreciated.
thanks in adv.

check the fuses, not sure which one would control that.

Are the guages still functional or is the whole dash inop?

sounds electrical.
I would start checking fuses as REnesis mentioned and also check the wires to the PCM box. Maybe something got loose?

Fuses are always the first place to look when ANYTHING electrical is going on with the car. A blown/lose fuse can cause a world of issues.

Check your battery connections and the charge on the battery.

2nd hand ones won't work..they need to be initialized..and the way Mazda has it set up you can't swap in a used module....

You might be able to tell if there is a fault with the original one...but the used dash unit won't work properly
