Angry No power to the stereo and display?

I have just taken the stereo unit out to fit an iPod cable (instructions will follow) and the stereo and display is not working. All the power cables are plugged in and I've removed the iPod cable in case it was that and still nothing.

The hazards switch works.
The sat nav unit and controls work.
Heated seats work.
The Cd changer kicks in when the power cable is connected.
The heater and fan is working.

It seems that all the stereo/air con controls don't work and the display is blank - nothing happens when the car is turned on.

I've checked the fuses and they're ok - any ideas?

This is baffling me!

The faceplate has pulled away from the actual stereo. I just did this repair myself.

The first link mentioned above is the quick and easy way to fix it.

+1 on the faceplate not being properly hooked up to the radio. Happened to me when I did the heater/ac repair.

I had the same symptoms. No LED display, AC not working, radio not working. Fan worked and hazard lights worked. I had switched out my faceplate and disconnected the radio. After reinstalling most of the functions did not work. What I discovered was that the black cable jack had not been inserted properly. All 4 other white plastic lock-type fasteners had stayed in but the black cable jack (maybe power jack) had come loose. When I inserted it more deeply it stayed in and solved the problem. Every console component now works as it did originally.
