No love in San Jose

This is wrong...

I took my car out for a drive tonight just for fun. What should pull up beside me but a beautiful velocity red RX-8. I looked over at the driver thinking he would flash me a signal, wave, just acknowledge that I exist! But no, he stares straight ahead. We stopped together at 2 or 3 lights, and he couldn't have cared less! Now is that wrong or what?

Well that makes sense. With my sunlight silver, he was probably busy kicking himself for getting the red...

No, that wasn't me. If you see a nut in a sunlight silver RX-8 waving trying to get your attention, that's me! :D

I'm worried about when a 350Z finally pulls up next to me. I'll be sitting there thinking sadly about what poor taste this driver has and what a repulsive little machine it is. Then, when the light changes, he'll smoke me.

well first off... i do that too. i'm still kinda shaky at stick so i avoid looking around. partly so i won't embarass myself and partly because i need to keep all my concentration in driving. heh. so maybe he's the same way?

i got my first props tonight though. i was making a right turn but some high school kids were crossing the street. they finished crossing and one of them yelled "hey, nice car!"

as for the 350z thing... i like them too. no need to hate on them. like for me i love the z, but.... i love the 8 more.

I think that would be me :D

It was on N. 1st around 10pm right?

Actually, I did look over twice but I thought you were looking over to your passenger side. I just figured you were w/ someone. Plus it was dark and I was buzzed because of happy hour.

I drove slow because I was a tad faded and really tired from work, that's all.

No hard feelings, its just most RX8s I do meet don't say hello either, so I just do the same.

alex

ps -- you going to this saturday's meet?

You'll catch him at the first corner though, don't you worry about that. :D

Wow, this is the first time I've seen two people writing about seeing each other on the road and actually running into each other on this forum. Small world indeed!!

[QUOTE=alex]... and I was buzzed because of happy hour.

QUOTE]

Dude, hope you weren't too buzzed. If you feel a buzz, you're too drunk to drive. My buddy was killed by a drunk driver and I have no room for that ****. If I've had more than two drinks in an hour, or more than a drink an hour over the evening, the keys go to someone else, or if there's no one else, then it's a cab and the car stays put.

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK.

The meet is at 11am @ D&B in the Great Mall. Most ppl are kinda busy but this time around, I want to get some photos done

BTW -- by buzz and tired, its more like 7-weeks of post-op recovery w/out any alcohol lowered my tolerance a lot and the place I was at was poorly lit so made me even more tired. I just had 1/2 a beer, some nasty beer and food. I felt buzzed but probably wasn't buzzed and I was driving waaay under the limit , I'm sure quack-p can attest to.

Velocity Red? Driver looks straight? Sounds like me!

heh, after reading his post I thought it was me. But then all I remember last night was this maroon Concord that didn't want to stop beside me at first and then seconds later stepped forward to stop beside me. I had a feeling he wanted to race me, but I figured he wasn't worth the risk (we were beside SJCC). Long story short, he screeched his tire zooming out and shifted to my lane and I was just laughing out loud coz he probably thought that his Mom's car just beat an RX-8! I just drove 35mph until I got home lol

Anyways, what you described there that the driver just looks straight forward and not look beside his car? That's what I do most of the time. I just hate the bad attention this car gets, so I won't bother looking beside. But trust me, if I saw an RX-8 (even a mile away) I will recognize and acknowledge it as I have in the past.

Show the love then, show up at our next meet at D&B, Milpitas Rooftop parking lot @ 2pm.

People in my area with RX-8s don't bother acknowledging each other. I certainly don't bother doing it myself...it's just a little...wierd. At stoplights, I look straight ahead, or glance up into the sky. A part of me says yeah, you know you want the attention, while another part gets embarrassed that the car calls attention to itself so much.

The most common comment I have received from the high schoolers... You're car is sick, man. I don't have occasion to speak with many teens so I assume that's a compliment.

I just learned that word, too. I just got cable for the first time in my life, and I've been watching a lot of American Chopper on the Discovery Channel (is that a great show or what?). Sick, as in "that's bike is sick-looking." Yeah, I'm a little behind. Someone said I was "to the curb," that's good, right? :p

Small world. We should come up with a universal signal to ackowledge each other. Maybe a flash of the high beams, or a flicker of the hazards.

Ideas?

I was going on 880 north on Thursday and I saw a blue 8 coming up on my right hand side. My dad was driving at the time, but I looked over, and the driver of the blue 8 looked over, so I nodded and he nodded. Then he sped off, hehe.
