Next generation 8

I saw on a thread that the 8 turbo is coming. Does anyone have any hard evidence of that? Are we looking two years down the line for '06? Will the price go up ten grand? Do you think that they will also add folding rear seats and find a decent place for the spare?

Yes, I called mazda today and they confirmed everything you said. They told me 2 years down the line for the turbo, 10 G price increase and a foldign rear seat. Oh yea, they are placing the tire under the car.

They are going to place the spare tire on top of the motor. That is why they mounted it so low, so they had space for the tire. You can not do that with a V-6. This is why a rotary is so cool.

I spoke to someone at Mazda who said the next gen 8 would be foot powered. Seems plausible.

no guys, they are putting the spare tire on the ROOF, at least that is what the mazda rep told me. Gotta keep the weight in between the front and rear wheels at all costs!

See, and I heard that they were building a spare into every tire....kind of like two-ply toilet paper. :D

No, but I heard the next gen RX8 was going to come equipped with a crack dispenser as a standard accessory.

I heard that the cup holders were going to be removed and replaced by a mini fridge, which holds a 6 pack... of coke, cause drunk driving is BAD, and the NAV system will be swithced to a mini HDTV! Sweet.

Yes, i believe when the Mazdaspeed version comes out in late '04 or early '05 it will come turbocharged.

Is the square rotor going to increase the cost by 25% then?

The RX-8 is nicely priced right where it is at. Get the basic for 26k, and the loaded for 32k. I don't know that I want to spend more money to have a turbo. Depends, 2k more or 10k more? Mazda just needs to work out the few bugs for the '06. It is about as perfect as you get! :D
