newbie looking for info redesigned rx

Yes in 2007 I bought a 2008 335i coupe sports/6mt.

The RX 8 was a close second.

These are the only two cars that handle and have ride/characteristics that you can live with.

I am extremely interested in the redesigned rx (7 or 9).

This was in Road and Track today
. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6785

Why am I so interested in the RX? Weight. The BMW needs to go on a diet.

Please direct me to where this discussion in taking place on the forum.

Thanks

Most of the discussion has been pure speculation. Try searching.

If you are talking about the redesign of the engine as the 16x, then there is just speculation about it. Mazda is releasing nothing concrete, not even the designation. People speculate that the 16x will be in either the new RX-7 or the new RX-9.

The RX-7 theory is based on the number being related to the size of the vehicle in it's segment. (Mazda5 is smaller than CX-7, smaller than CX-9, Mazda2 is smaller than the Mazda3, which is smaller than the Mazda5, which is smaller (in chassis) than the Mazda6) And hopes that the 16x will be in a vehicle that is smaller and lighter than the 8, going back to the 2-seat pure sports car.

The RX-9 theory is based on the number being an incremental progression of evolution of the RX. RX-1, RX-2, RX-3,... RX-7, RX-8, etc...

Personally, regardless of what the "next RX-8" is, I would hope that they offer either the improved Renesis or the new 16x as an alternately available drivetrain in the MX-5. There is bound to be a I4 in the MX-5 to keep it's racing series alive, and to appeal to the people whom it has always appealed to that didn't want a rotary mess, but seriously, the MX-5 has always seemed like it was designed for a rotary and vise-versa, and whatever political mess got in the way. I would buy a rotary MX-5 faster than the "next RX-8".

I'd laugh if Mazda just released an RX8 with a "14C" rotary.. That'd be a curveball! (12A, 13B, 14C) :P

Eh, actually, a 16C is likely. The X on the 16X is accepted to mean it is still experimental. A to B was for a significant redesign of the internals, and the 16X is certainly a significant redesign. It might end up being the 16C

So that means a 24C would be a new 3 rotor, and a 32C would be a new 4 rotor. Hrm, 32C. Those are some nice dimensions for a pretty sexy lady beast.
