I am not sure if there's a posting about this already, so I thought I share with everyone.

I just bought a 2004 RX8 about 2 weeks ago. Being that it's a used car, I wanted to know as much as I can about my car, especially after what I read about the 8 and the ENGINE recall.

I went on Carfax and got the history, but that wasn't enough.

For those who are lazy (like me) and hate being on the phone, you can go to Mazda's website and contact them via email. Supply your VIN number and whatever info you wish for your vehicle.

This is what I got back from them.

The engine was replaced on 04/07/2009, SSP 77 Rotary Core/Engine extended warranty expired on 08/12/2011. PCM was reprogrammed on 03/26/2008. Listed below is the recall/repair history for the vehicle:
PASSENGER'S FRONT AIR BAG 03-05-2004 CLOSED 03-16-2004
DYNAMIC DAMPER 03-05-2004 CLOSED 03-16-2004
RX-8 FUEL TANK ISSUE 08-30-2005 CLOSED 10-04-2005
RX-8 LOWER ARM BALL JOINT 08-30-2005 CLOSED 10-04-2005
VOLUNTARY EMISSION RECALL 08-31-2006 CLOSED 03-03-2008

Good Info... I believe you can also go to any mazda dealer and ask for a printout of the recalls performed...

Nice to know, but you won't get all the information you need to know. Carfax and car dealerships only have the info when you bring the car to them. All the other shops do not usually report info on what they did to your car (maintenance wise, etc.)
