New RX8 Owner

Hi all,

I just signed for my new 2004 Red RX-8. I fell in love with the car as soon as i saw it in the showroom. I will take delivery november 30th and i can't wait.

I was wondering what mods i should do first. I was thinking of:

  1. Grounding Kit
  2. K&N Intake
  3. Clear Side Markers
  4. Lowered Suspension

I was wondering what the best mod is to increase low-end torque since as we all know that the RX8 lack a little?

thanks all!
Martin

welcome martin, and the best mod to increase low end torque is of course a turbo (but you wont find many tested and approved kits)...play with the car stock first though, it comes extremely balanced out of the box.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome.
First mod - clear side markers.
Drive the car first before deciding whether you need more torque.
If you wanna race the car, get the Sti or the Evo.

Welcome to the family.
From what you have listed, the clear corners would be a definite first modification.
I'll leave the other 3 till much later and follow up the clear corners with a nice Catback system to add a bit of "sound" to the somewhat "wimpy" exhaust note.

Cool, hope you have many happy miles, i've had mine for 3 weeks now and I feel like a teenager again. Ive only had the guts to do 1 burnout so far and that was on a slightly wet surface, I guess I want to keep it as new as possible. By the way what are Clear Corners/Side markers and a Grounding Kit

Welcome to the club. In my opinion, the grounding kit is probably more mental than anything else... but it can't hurt. I would personally avoid the K&N... it might actually hurt more than help. The stock intake is very well tuned, so you're not going to do much more than increase engine noise (which I would like more of), and at best a few HP with a quality intake (I'm waiting for the Racing Beat kit, although the SR intake looks really nice as well). I'm a fan of the clear side markers for the Euro/JDM look, and it looks great on the red. As for the suspension- if you're lowering it for handling, consider upgrading your sway bars in addition to, or in the place of springs. As for more power/torque, drive it around a while, and in the next 3-6 months there should be some decent supercharger and turbocharger kits available.

Good luck with it!

To write it once again... To add low end torque you should wait a few months until there´s a quality turbo kit available for the 8. At first, just enjoy your new car - you can definately enjoy it without any mods!

But first I would go for the clear sidemarkers. They are a small detail that´s very noticeable.
Lowering the car could be a nice feature, it gives the 8 a little more aggresive look. Just keep in mind, if your adding some bodykit in addition to the lowering, you still want to be able to get over those damn speedbumbs.
