New to the RX, Potential Engine Problem?!

Hi guys, got an RX with 17,000 miles last fall, didn't drive it that much, saw a white-ish foam-type substance on the upper part of the dipstick right after the oil change. The oil I put in was Castrol Fully Synthetic, European formula, 5W30. No smell, noise, or power loss though. Changed that oil, put Castrol in again, and saw the same white foam-type thing on the dip stick. It's not coolant I don't think. Doesn't seem like water to me, either. What could it be and do I have an engine problem??? Thanks for any feedback.

It is, it's just condensation. It's normal, nothing to worry about.

OK, I'm convinced now that it's normal for this particular car (not specifically MY car, but RX8 in general). Not any other car, but this one. Then again, how many other cars are there with a rotary engine in them? I certainly is a fun car to drive, noisy and kinda sluggish in 1st gear, but fun.

I am sure it will be fine but I use 5W-20 oil only not part synthetic, full synthetic or European formula if you just use regular oil what Mazda recommends then you should be fine. As for the white foam-type stuff not sure but I had that before myself not a big deal could be condensation. Good Luck.

Oil is a hot a controversial topic here, in Europe Mazda recommends synthetic Castrol, there is a whole buch of threads on this in this forum, apparently a lot of guys think synthetic is better, some stick to mineral, others say it doesn't matter... I went with the synthetic philosophy.
