new prospective owner
Hey everyone, been lurking for a few months just reading up on basic information about 8's such as care, maintenence, etc...but i have a few personal questions regarding my potential ownership of the RX8.
Right now im driving around a 2003 Eclipse GS, but my uncle has an 04 AT Ti-Grey RX8 Sport package and is willing to let me have it, as he bought it on impulse (dont blame him, as the 8 is pure visual candy), and is shopping for another car.
Obviously, I am ecstatic about getting an RX8 for basically nothing, but I would ideally prefer getting a 6MT instead, knowing that 04-05 AT has engine issues dealing with carbon buildup, etc. The problem is this -my parents arent the most enlightened about anything having to do with cars and are against me driving a stick.
Some problems that I was hoping you guys could help me out with are these
- should i just take the auto 8 and drop the argument completely?
- are there any articles or recalls that I can use to validate purchasing 6MT over the 4AT? (no offense AT owners)
- should I sell my Eclipse for what its worth (7-8k) and put money towards a 2004/2005 MT?
- I've been looking around, and I know that the Sport package comes with cloth upholstery, 16 in rims, no fogs/spoiler/moonroof, but I've seen some on autotrader that have some included, some not, so is there anyway that these could be options?
Thanks for your input guys, im pretty set on the 8 and its just coming down to AT/MT right now. Love the 8 community and hope to meet you guys in the near future!

If you have been driving for less than a 2 years, you would be better served honing your situational awareness, and learning how to cope with traffic around you. This can be done with a stick, but is easier with an auto.
YES
If you are asking whether or not those accessories can be added to your uncle's car, the answer is yes they can. The moonroof being the only exception.
