Cool New owner. New questions.

I AM a happy owner of a 2004 Mazda RX 8 I have done some searching and I have read other threads but I do have a couple questions. This car will be doing a lot of highway travel so I want it running as efficiently as possible, I need me a reliable dd from this little Mazda!

The car has 70,000 miles and a clean Carfax reports but I want to do tuneup on it just in case.

My plan was to seafoam it, get new spark plugs and plug wires followed by a fresh oil change. Then clean out the Maf and throttle body sensor with some carb cleaner and Mac cleaner.

I have read a lot about flooding and my first question is while I'm cranking the car following the instructions in the seafoam DIY thread won't that risk flooding the car?

The oil change Maf sensor and throttlebody cleaning seems relatively easy, but the spark plugs look like a pain. how often should you change the spark plugs and spark plug wire should I be concerned about that? If so any way I can have that done at the mechanic that won't charge me in an arm and a leg? Maybe somebody know someone down here in Miami who would do it?

Also do mazdas have any type of warranty with the DEaler? IE. first 90k miles ,etc.

I think you've bought the wrong car.
But...
add coils to the list of parts you want monitor, but I wouldn't just start changing stuff unless you have a reason.

Flooding typically (my experience) occurs when the engine is started and stopped and never brought up to operating temperature.
The seafoam procedure has you running the car until its hot and then adding the seafoam ... it only sits for 2 hours.

That being said ... I've also tried ATF which I let sit for 24 hours and had no problems.
Other reasons for a flood situation is due to weak ignition, a poor starter or low compression.
