New Owner Navi Question

First off I would like to say thanks to all of the users who have posted information on this site as it really helped me out when I was researching vehicles. I finally decided on the 8 and purchased two weeks ago. I picked the silver, manual with GT and appearance packages plus navi. I really love the car and have only received great feedback form others on it.

My question is this: I live in Ohio but the navi system seems to think that I am in Washington state. I made sure that my area said North Central US but evern after I verified that, the nearest ATM's, restauarnts, etc. still show up in Washington. I called the dealer and they said they would research it on Monday and they would call me back. They thought my GPS may be messed up.

Has anyone else had this issue?

No, I live in Florida and after I set up for the Southeast It has worked flawless. I am not sure what the problem might be w/ your set up.. Maybe they are correct and the GPS is off.. Why dont you go to the dealer and ask to use a CD from another 8.. See if that one also malfunctions. That might narrow the problem areas.. Good luck. happy holidays from FL.

The manual says that you should drive round with the NAV on for quite a while for it to really get it's settings. There is also a reset option in the settings section.

You have to tell it what region you're in. The DVD has the entire US, but it only searches addresses for the region you've set. This is to speed up search time.

I believe the original poster is aware of this judging by the following:

I finally got it figured out. I worked to reset everything and now it works like a charm. Thanks for the help.

Did you just use the reset function, or was there some setup you had to do?

I finally got mine working okay, but the instructions in the manual are terrible.

One question... How do you DELETE a location from your history list. I've got at least a dozen "marked points" that I accidently set when I was trying to learn this thing.

You can't delete from the history list, but you can take out marked points. There's a menu for managing them.
