new owner!

Hi all,

I just got my rx8 on saturday, and I've been poking around these boards since then.

It's a black on black touring edition with basically every option except navigation. I used to drive a 1998 modded-to-hell mustang, so I'm really enjoying the glove-like feel of the rx8.

There's plenty of good information on these boards and everyone seems to be very nice with good conversations happening. I look forward to meeting all the regulars!

rock on!

CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to our club! Great color choice, btw... No biases, honest...

My co-worker just bought an blue 06 Mustang GT V8 and has started modding it- silver racing stripes, intakes, shocks etc. He went w/ me on one of my several test drives of the 8 before I bought mine last year. And, he's a "big car" person, so the glove-like feel of the 8 didn't take too well. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyways.

Anyways... Make sure to read the getting started guide that came w/ the car and watch the RX-8 product up-2-date DVD video to learn about the proper way to care for a rotary engine vehicle. I'm sure you'll find lots of useful info on this forum also. You'll want to pay particular attention to checking/ adding motor oil every-other trip to the gas station, engine warm-up, warm-down procedures (to prevent flooding), and break-in period suggestions.

Again, congrats...

I hear ya, I don't think im gonna do much to this little beaut.

I'm thinking of just gettng the appearance package, aluminum fender stakes and tinting the windows. Does anyone have a ballpark figure of how much Mazda charges for labor in installing the appearance package?

Thanks.

Your car doesn't have straight line performance like a Z. It handles nothing like an Evo. Space is inadequate, and you will be getting 12 miles to the gallon. Doesn't look nearly as good as a G35 coupe.

Sucks for you.

but your car has 2 more seats than the Z, has better interior and class than the Evo, revs to 9000rpm, and is $10K cheaper than the G35.
good choice i'd say. WELCOME! nice choice of color.

well, I'm not gonna fight about which car I think is better and whatever - I just think it's odd that on a rx8 forum with a guy who appears to own an rx8 would come out saying stuff like that.

Thanks for the welcome luds!

the greatest moment in owning a black 8 is the first time you wax it on a perfect saturday afternoon, hell that alone gets me through the next week and you always remember your first.
