New Member - lots to catch up on.

I just bought a 2008 RX-8 Grand Touring with everything but nav, with 6k miles on it. I'm coming from a modded 2008 G35S sedan - before that Volvo S60R and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

I got a smoking deal - so paid cash and now no more payments.

Lots to learn about this car but am really excited. I've read a lot about the stalling, cold starts, etc...

Mine has the body kit, so just need to do Ipod integration, and some other little stuff.

Just wanted to say hello as I dive into what makes the RX-8 so great.

Here's my current...will post new ride pics soon.

Welcome to the addiction! you'll notice that the 8s handling is more superior, although you wont have as much torque as your G35

Thanks! The torque really only kicked in with REVS - so I'm sure I'll be fine. Plus...in LA my average speed is 14mph!

And yes - i'm sure it handles better. I had over 1k of GT Spec bracing on my G and it was still a little sloppy....

These links are great...succinct, thorough, easy to understand.

The best of any forum I've been on. And I liked Swedespeed, GrandCherokeeSRT8 and G35 Driver a lot!

Thanks!!

do you still have the G or did you sell it?

I used to have an S60R too! did you frequent the Swedespeed site? I was a regular there. I had a 2004 Tigray S60R with EVERY mod EVOLVE sold, including the body kit. loved that car!! I sold it to fund buiying my wifes car / our family hauler, a new MDX. I later bought an older model boxster as a toy car ... and after being nickel and dimed to death on tons of repairs i sold it... i'm not growing tired of my "luxury car" DD and want something sporty... i've got an Acura RL...but considering sellin it and getting into an 8.

i cross shopped the S2000, RX8, and older boxsters - ended up with a boxster..but the ONLY car besides the porsche that really got me excited was the RX8...it is such a fun car.

yo will love it.. maybe i'll hae one too..althohgh if I get one, i'm getting an R3

I still have the G pictured above...tried to sell it - but am now parting out all the mods I can before I turn it in on March 1.

LOTS of info here....and I can tell a very good, "nice" forum....

23109 - Yes, I was on Swedespeed for about a year and a half...I had a 2005 R, wrecked it...then bought an 06 - Electric Silver, body kit, Nav. Sucked tho because the body kit was not avail in EX - so I had to buy, paint and install.

cool. kinda cool to see somenoe else shared similar tastes in cars.. the R was a cool car.. but the 8 is gonna be way more fun! was your R modded?

any plans to mod your 8?

the R was fun, but once I modded it, i got so much crap from dealers, and it was hard to find someone who could work on it and diagnose some of the electrical / sensor problems I developed.. became a PITA so often that I was sad/glad to see it go... although I do mis the boost...

the RX8 will rev and rev and rev - you'll love it! with intake/exhaust the RX8 sounsd bitchen too

I do plan on doing some mods...after i soak up all the info and do some planning. I always do custom interior stuff to dash, doors and sometimes seats. Always do sound deadening.

On the R - I had the $1,000.00 BSR - PPC tune, uprated tires - but i bought the second one with literally every option. Loved the interior, the 4C was good in concept, but with bigger tires I HATED the suspension crash. And the WORST turning radius in the entire world. Loved the boost after the tune and the AWD was amazing...but it was heavy, got 10 mpg around Los Angeles, and was not really fun unless you were on open highway.

Here is my R and my SRT8 that replaced it.

I'm looking forward to the 3k lbs of the 8, the size of it, etc.

Ok - haven't even taken delivery of my 8 yet - and already spend $550.00. Clear corners, tint, LED bulbs, strakes, leather parking brake cover, front splash guards (mine has the kit...but these were missing).

I''m trying to determine which is the best/easiest Ipod interface for an 08. Lots of threads...but can someone just tell me? OEM for the 08. 8's are like 150...I have Bose and steering wheels controls.

Is there that much difference between DICE and OEM?

thanks!
